The M.O.V.E. Program MOBILITY OPPORTUNITIES VIA EXPERIENCE ®
Dove Pointe has recently completed certification as a MOVE ® Basic Provider!!!
M.O.V.E. (Mobility Opportunities via Experience) is designed to help individuals who are non-ambulatory
to practice skills such as sitting standing and walking. With these opportunities, individuals we serve
have the chance to play an active roll in their own lives by standing during their favorite activity, or
walking to their work area, or sitting without the support of their wheelchairs, which in turn allows them
the opportunity to ride in a standard car or sit a chair at a regular table with their peers.
This program has opened the doors for Dove Pointe individuals in ways that were never expected
before. It has also allowed Dove Pointe the opportunity to provide this service to the community. With
the help of adaptive equipment, Dove Pointe is providing members of the community the opportunity
to strengthen their muscles, work on transitioning and walking skills, with the hope that they can regain
their independence in their homes. Often times disabled individuals who would rather live at home on
their own, are placed in nursing homes or community programs because they are no longer able to be
independent. This program and the opportunities it provides are helping those individuals work towards
their independence.
