EPSDT services are behavioral intervention services provided to children under the age of 21 that are found to have a medical necessity for these services. This is a rehabilitative service, implemented on a 1:1 basis for the purpose of reducing maladaptive behaviors. Approved children are re-evaluated every 60 days, during which the state reviews each case to determine progression. Approvals and the number of allotted hours are subject to change following each evaluation.
Parents or guardians must be present during the implementation of this service, with the idea that they will acquire techniques from the aides and then gradually reduce the amount of services that are needed. This service may be provided in the child’s home or in the community.

Respite is a service that provides a period of rest and renewal to families caring for an eligible child. Parents may be absent while services are provided. Services have traditionally been provided in the child’s home; however, the state has just announced an expansion of the respite service to include other locations, such as Dove Pointe’s children’s services site. This site is located at Dove Pointe adjacent to the main location on Mt. Hermon Road. There are plans to offer services in our residential homes as well.
